大华盛顿地区中国西北同乡会

     The China-NorthWest Association (CNWA) of Greater Washington  

中国西北包括陕西、甘肃、宁夏、青海、新疆五省区，面积占中国领土的三分之一。美国大华盛顿中国西北同乡会于1997年9月19日在马里兰州注册，注册名称为"The Chinese Northwestern Association, Inc."，简称CNWA。宇文镐是首届会长。西北同乡会的主旨是促进侨胞联谊，是一个非盈利性、非政治性的组织，其运作所需的人力物力完全来自于会员的义务服务和捐助。

西北同乡会没有严格的会员登记制度，凡在西北生活、工作、学习的人以及他们的至亲好友，只要愿意参加西北同乡会的活动，都是当然会员。西北人待人诚恳，朴实豪爽，容易相处，每次聚会，亲情气氛都十分浓厚。西北同乡会是华盛顿地区人气最旺、最为活跃、最负盛名的华人社团之一。

理事会是西北同乡会的常设机构，由正副会长和理事若干名组成。理事会选举两年一次。本届理事会暨第八届理事会于2010年12月开始运作。

The China-Northwest Association (CNWA) of Greater Washington is an organization of the people who once lived in China's Northwest, namely Xinjiang, Qinghai, Ningxia, Gansu, and Shaanxi. Registered in Maryland, USA in 1997, the goal of CNWA is to provide a platform for Chinese northwesterners to meet and develop friendship, to enrich their life with their homeland culture, and to promote understanding between Chinese northwesterners and the rest of the world.

Any one who has ever lived in Northwest China, has a family member from Northwestern China, or is a close friend of someone from northwest China is eligible to be a member. There is no registration procedure and membership is free. CNWA is operated solely by members’ donation of time, energy, skill, knowledge and money.  CNWA is non-profit and non-political.
